NHL Deputy Commissioner with Daren Millard & Nick Kypreos

  • 2008-09-17 13:09

Speaking to Hockeycentral @ Noon, NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly broke the news that he was in communication with the KHL regarding Alexander Radulov and a couple of other players whose rights are in contention and that both leagues are open to arbitration on the matter. Daly, however, doubts the KHL's sincerity in going through with arbitration.

At issue is where the hearing will take place. While the KHL wants the case heard in Russia, the NHL wants an international arbitrator to preside over the matter in a setting outside of Russia. Moreover, the KHL wants to tie all contracted disputes together whereby the NHL wants to separate the Radulov case from the other two players.

When asked about a timeline for arbitration, Daly stated "The bottom line is I don't think they have any intent to go to arbitration."  Daly later on to say he would be "Very surprised" if the KHL agreed to go through the process.
