The long awaited deal has been done .... LB Mike O’Shea has agreed to a contract extension with the Toronto Argonauts through the 2009 season. The Argos’ captain on defence is coming off a 2007 campaign that saw him rack up 77 defensive tackles, 4 special teams tackles, 4 QB sacks and 2 forced fumbles.

Eric Staal has left the Canadian team at the IIHF World Hockey Championship after the death of his grandfather. He travelled back to Thunder Bay, Ont., today and will attend the funeral Wednesday. Younger brother Jordan will leave the Pittsburgh Penguins tomorrow to attend.
