The Montreal Canadiens have Carey Price's name on a new contract. The 23-year-old goaltender signed a two-year deal, ending two months of negotiations between the NHL team and the restricted free agent. Price has spent his entire career in Montreal after being selected fifth overall in 2005. He'll start the upcoming season as the team's No. 1 goaltender.
Bautista Snags Player of the Month Honours

Jose Bautista's 11 home runs in the month of August has paid off. The 29-year-old right fielder was name MLB's Player of the Month for August, the second month in a row he's been selected for the honours.

As per an NHL source, TSN is reporting the NY Post's inital report is inaccurate. The Post originally claimed the NHL has issued an ultimatum to the PA stating they would be grandfathering the Kovalchuk, Luongo and Hossa deals.

Capra Upsets 18th-Seeded Rezai
Wimbledon runner-up Vera Zvonareva beat 94th-ranked Sabine Lisicki of Germany 6-1, 7-6 (5) Thursday in the second round of the U.S. Open. In other ladies action, 18-year-old American made her way unexpectedly to the third round. Capra, a wild-card entry ranked 371st, upset 18th-seeded Aravane Rezai of France 7-5, 2-6, 6-3.
